DIP Arquitectos shares its vision at the University of Monterrey
Under the theme “The Business of Architecture” DIP Arquitectos gave a lecture addressing challenges, strategies and processes in the field of design with an innovative approach for UDEM students.
Through an interdisciplinary team of professionals, the chair arises from DIP Arquitectos' vision of providing knowledge and expertise to new generations of creatives.
Over a period of six months, rich conversations were created around market challenges, ideas and strategies. This space offered an ideal environment for the voices and talents behind DIP to share their experience in the field.
The Business of Architecture Taught by CEO Rogelio Almaguer
In the vast and multifaceted world of art, architecture stands as one of the most complex disciplines in terms of monetization. Architects are often faced with the challenge of transforming their creative talent into a profitable business, where monetization and building successful companies are not always openly discussed topics.
During the lecture, Rogelio Almaguer, CEO of DIP Arquitectos shared strategies, successes and mistakes that exist when entering this discipline. He stressed to the students the importance of having a clear vision and mission within a work team after the question: How will you change the world? Subsequently, Almaguer analyzed the key elements to develop a solid strategy that allows new creatives to stand out in today's competitive market.
The collaboration and holistic approach of the chair allowed the incorporation of new voices to these sessions. Lucy Horiuchi, Chief Administration Officer, joined the conversation with Rogelio Almaguer with a new topic on the table: Networking: How to sell your project? Where the art of selling with value gained meaning in the minds of students. Under this same framework, new stages in a project were discussed, with a focus on pricing as a strategic tool, led by these same talents.
The session “Cultivating Talent: Personnel Selection and Retention Strategies” portrayed the importance of human capital within a company, where Horiuchi and Alexis Zavala, Human Resources Manager of DIP, delved into the business organizational culture with an innovative approach. Subsequently, Abner Díaz, Arts Team Leader, contributed his expertise in marketing and graphic design, consolidating the evolution of building a recognized brand with his topic “Marketing and Brand Positioning: Transforming Ideas into Solid Brands.”
The chair included several sessions dedicated to the standardization and harmonization of projects, highlighting the valuable contributions of the DIP team. Adrián Ruiz, Project Manager; Karla Sosa, Design Team Leader; and Paulina Zapata, VR Quality shared their experience leading projects and processes through the session “Project Management Mastery.” Subsequently, the session “Standardization as a method and quality control” taught by Zapata and Lucy Horiuchi, highlighted the importance of maintaining high standards and uniformity in all aspects of project development.
Alejandro Leal, Chief Design Officer; Iván Montemayor, Experimental Design Associate; and Patricio Lomelí, special guest, inspired the students with the session “Innovation and design as a competitive advantage.” Through success stories in the market, they planted innovative ideas and highlighted how creativity can become a decisive factor for business success.
Sowing the Creative Future
The "Business of Architecture" chair has not only been a space to explore the paths of the business world of design, but also a platform to sow the seeds of knowledge and innovation in young minds eager for learning. We thank the University of Monterrey for providing us with this valuable space and for their consideration in allowing us to share our experience with their students.
With each session, we have sought to not only impart knowledge, but also inspire and empower the creative minds of tomorrow. This meeting has been a testimony of our firm conviction to build bridges to the future, where excellence, creativity and collaboration are the pillars of a prosperous and vibrant architectural industry.
